The organic, low-key look of greenery is so popular with weddings right now, and I am Here For It. That event design style goes so well with what I love about calligraphy – the fact that you’re never, ever going to be perfect. Just like every piece of vine won’t be exactly the same in your garden, no two letters are ever the same in any project you work on. It’s a beautiful thought, don’t you think? If you agree, buckle in, because this wedding is totally going to blow your mind.

Megan and Alex planned just this kind of event for their Boal Mansion wedding in State College, Pennsylvania. With simple yet elegant tablescapes and arrangements filled with gorgeous greens, their wedding incorporated simplicity and detail. I was able to contribute calligraphy to some of their amazing detail photography by Dyanna LaMora.

The ring detail shots incorporated “their” song, which I thought was an amazing idea. And the boutonniere labels were a delicate and simple touch. I mixed a custom blue gouache ink to match the rest of their wedding inspiration.

Fun fact, Megan is an event planner here in Central PA! It was such a joy to help her plan her perfect day when she devotes so much time to others.
